Safety tips to prevent Christmas tree fires this holiday

Dry Christmas trees cause fire dangers to over 200 homes per year.

WENATCHEEA new study finds that 77% of U.S. homes will have a Christmas tree, which is about 99-million homes.

By this time in the Holiday Season most of us have had our Christmas trees up and decorated for several weeks now. If you have a real, live tree, how often are you watering it? More than 200 home fires each year start because of a dry Christmas tree.

The American Christmas Tree Association recently released a dramatic video to demonstrate what could happen if a fire starts in a watered tree versus a dry Christmas tree.

It’s recommended that the water be checked at least every other day and never let the water get lower than one inch above the bottom of the highest cut mark on the tree.
