Auburn Man Not Guilty of Vehicular Homicide

A six-day trial ended last night when a Chelan County Superior Court jury found an Auburn man not guilty of vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal accident on a US Forest Service road in 2015.

19-year-old Adam Sanders was arrested after the car he was driving crashed about 8 miles northeast of Leavenworth. A passenger in the vehicle, 19-year-old Kyle McClincy, also from Auburn, was killed after being thrown from the vehicle.

Sheriff’s Deputies testified that Sanders admitted drinking alcohol before the accident but reportedly did not display signs of impairment at the crash scene. Also, Deputies said his blood was free of alcohol when tested.

The State rested its case mid-day Wednesday. The Defense case was put on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Jury was instructed Thursday afternoon, then received closing arguments and then went into deliberations for two and a half hours before returning their verdict at 8 PM.
