Art in the Park tents in Leavenworth were burglarized last weekend

One of Leavenworth’s biggest seasonal downtown markets was burglarized last weekend.

Village Art in the Park, a nonprofit that hosts Northwest traveling artists and raises money for local art scholarships, says someone entered three of its tented booths after midnight on Oct. 16, and made off with prints, stickers, paints, hats, jewelry supplies, a blanket, and a small amount of cash.

The sheriff;s office estimated the total loss at about $1,400.

The entry to the tent area was caught on grainy security video. Anyone with information on the burglary and theft is asked to call the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Scott Lawrence said it the second time since this summer that the tents have been burglarized.

The sheriff’s office is also looking for a man they suspect of doing significant damage to a Tesla parked at Bavarian Lodge in Leavenworth that same day.

The sheriff’s office said the vandalism occurred last Saturday about 4 a.m.

It is not known if the malicious mischief suspect is connected to Art in the Park burglaries.
