Area fires prompt air quality warning

WENATCHEE- The Wenatchee Valley continues to struggle with poor air quality caused by a multitude of wildfires burning around the Pacific Northwest and Canada.

Here was the gauge at the State Department of Ecology’s air quality monitoring site in Wenatchee. Currently air quality is measured in the ‘unhealthy’ range.

Current air quality levels around the region (9 AM):

  • Leavenworth: unhealthy for sensitive groups
  • Chelan: Unhealthy
  • Twisp: Unhealthy
  • Winthrop: Unhealthy
  • Malaga: Good

The prevailing winds are pushing the smoke to the South and East which causes even worse air quality conditions in the Entiat and Lake Chelan areas.

The Washington State Department of Ecology keeps their website updated with current conditions, find the levels in your area here.
