Wenatchee beats US Military 13-8

Wenatchee brought 10-men to the plate in a four-run first inning. The All-Stars were able to bounce back with a four-run top of the 3rd to tie it. But the Sox regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning on bases-loaded walk to Jason Harayda.

The traveling US Military squad was able to tie it again in the top of the 5th only to have Wenatchee score 3 in the 6th highlighted by a 2-run home run by newcomer Justin Lutz. The ‘Sox added more in the 7th on a 3-run shot by Dalton Harum.

Wenatchee continues its 13-games in 13-days stretch in Kelowna at Elks Stadium tonight against the Falcons. Sam Wyatt will be on the mound for the AppleSox in the 6:35 game. Kelowna had not announced its starter by the time we took the air.

Kelowna had a late game and a long bus ride last night after beating Cowlitz 3-1 in 10-innings. The Falcons scored two in the 10th on a bases-loaded error and a ground-out. Austen Butler led the way offensively for Kelowna, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Chazz Martinez hit a 3-run home run in the 1st inning and Ryan Johnston hit a 3-run triple in the 4th as Walla Walla beat Victoria 6-3. Cesar Lopez also went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Sweets with a run.

Wenatchee tied for 1st in division

Wenatchee is now statistically tied for first with Victoria after the HarbourCat’s loss last night. Port Angeles is a game back at 3-3. Yakima Valley is a game and a half back at 3-4. Bellingham is 2-and-a-half back at 1-and-4 and Kelowna is 3-games back of first place after earning its first win last night.

The Mariners are trying to snap a four-game losing streak in Oakland as they begin a quick, two-game series with the Athletics…

Mariners play at Oakland

Seattle lost two of three to Oakland at home prior to the All-Star break and have lost three straight since the midsummer classic. Former AppleSox Marco Gonzales will get the start tonight, who is 10-and-7 with a 4.24 ERA. Mariner batters will face Daniel Mengden, who is 4-and-1 with a 4.73 ERA.

The Mariners are 39 and 58 while Oakland is battling with Houston for the top of the division at 53-and-41. After these two games, Seattle has ten consecutive home games against Los Angeles, Texas and Detroit.

Pujols leads Angels past Houston

Albert Pujols had three hits and three RBI’s in the Angels’ 9-6 win over Houston. The ageless one was called upon to make up for a shaky outing by Los Angeles starter Griffin Canning and the missing Mike Trout, who was out of the lineup with a calf strain.
