Healy Hits Two Three-Run Homers as M’s Top White Sox

Ryon Healy was a one man wrecking crew yesterday at Safeco Field, hitting 2, 3-run home runs to lead the Mariners past Chicago 8-to-2…
MARINERS
On a sun-splashed day at Safeco Field, Seattle scored 5-runs in the first inning off White Sox starter Reynoldo Lopez. That allowed Mariner starter Marco Gonzalez to work into a nice groove, earning his 11th win on the season, going 6-and-a-third, allowing 2-runs on 4-hits with 6 strikeouts.

Manager Scott Servais says he was very happy to see Healy respond after sitting out of the lineup on Saturday…

Seattle has the day off today before hosting San Francisco in the first of two games tomorrow.

Also in the American League West on Sunday…
AL WEST
Yovani Gallardo had his best start of the season and Rougned Odor homered and drove in three runs as Texas shut out Cleveland 5-nothing.

Matt Chapman’s walk off hit in the bottom of the 10th gave Oakland a 6-5 win over San Francisco.

Ian Kinsler, Cole Calhoun, Mike Trout and Justin Upton all went deep for Los Angeles as the Angels pounded Houston 14-5 to salvage the final game of the three-game series.

So everybody came out of the weekend the same as they went in, with Houston leading Seattle by 5-games in the A-L West and Oakland 3-back of the Mariners.

The 12 kids from the valley won the Pacific Northwest Regional tournament over the weekend in Moscow, Idaho. They now head to the World Series in Phenix City, Alabama, which is a very expensive proposition. If you’d like to donate through Wenatchee Youth Baseball to help them cover the expenses of travel, lodging and food, you can do so directly at any Cashmere Valley Bank branch.
