Apple Blossom Festival officially calls off this year’s celebration

The Apple Blossom Festival officially announced Wednesday there will be no celebration this year.

Organizers of the annual Wenatchee festival had held out hope for a shortened version of the festival, possibly in August.

They then began looking at a possible September harvest festival.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and still being in Phase 1.5 we cannot foresee this happening”, festival Administrator Darci Christoferson said in a statement.

The 101st Wasington State Apple Blossom Festival was was scheduled to start April 23 this year but was postponed as the state responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival board and staff will now turn its attention toward preparation for the 2021 festival, April 22-May 2, Christoferson said.
