Meet Top Ten Candidate Lorena Zepeda
Lorena is the daughter of Martha Fuertes and David Zepeda. She is a National Honor Society and FBLA member. Lorena assists Wellness Club meetings after school, and has been running cross country and track and field her entire high school career, while lettering. She has been part of La Chispa program for two consecutive years and has volunteered at the Lighthouse by serving food. In her spare time, she enjoys painting her nails, running, and embroidering. After graduation, Lorena plans to study aeronautical engineering.
Lorena’s favorite movie is McFarland USA. Her favorite song is “Dancing on My Own” by Calum Scott and her favorite novel is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. She is inspired by her parents and her most treasured keepsake is a small pink cape her mom knitted for her that she has had since she was little.
Lorena’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom, is going ice skating at the Town Toyota Center. Her proudest moment in life was earning the award named after Mandy Huffman and receiving the title of “Spirit of Eastmont” as a freshman. If Lorena could trade places with anyone for a day, she would trade places with gymnast Gabby Douglas. Lorena feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley because the commitment that she has put into the community has helped her grow into the young woman she is today. And she would like to represent the qualities that she has developed from the people of the Wenatchee Valley.
