Meet Candidate Shayn Stanaway

Shayn is the daughter of Eric and Sandy Stanaway. Shayn is a varsity volleyball player for her high school, an active member of Key Club and Honor Society. She is a running start student at Wenatchee Valley College and is on track to receive her AA degree upon graduation. Shayn was selected to be a student ambassador for the Wenatchee Valley Misawa Sister City in 2014. In her spare time, Shayn enjoys reading, painting, writing in her daily journal, playing golf and baking treats. After graduation, Shayn plans on attending a university and majoring in nursing and minoring in journalism.

Shayn’s favorite TV Show is Grey’s Anatomy and her favorite movie is Remember the Titans. Her favorite song is “What Do I Know?” by Ed Sheeran and her favorite novel is The Hobbit by J.R. Tolkien her favorite author is Dr. Seuss. Shayn is most inspired by her older sister Mikel, and her most treasured keepsakes are flattened pennies from memorable trips.

Shayn’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom events, is going to dinner at her favorite local restaurants with her family and attending the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval. Her proudest moment was helping her high school volleyball team go to state for the first time in school history her junior year, then repeating it again as a senior this season. If Shayn could trade places with anyone for a day, she would choose Jennifer Lawrence. Shayn should represent the Wenatchee Valley because she gained experience building relationships with others while representing the Wenatchee Valley in Japan. She wishes to have the opportunity to positively influence her community and to impact the lives of others.
