Another lookout in the Entiat Ranger District will soon be available to rent for overnight stays.
U.S. Forest Service employees and volunteers have been renovating the Tyee Mountain Lookout since last year and recently demolished an old outhouse that will be replaced by a portable toilet system.
The forest service praised the volunteer efforts of Jeff Kimbell and Will Lago.
“Will brought many of his own tools to the project site and his carpentry background was very helpful in both the demolition and the concrete work, said Entiat District Recreation Natural Resources Specialist Jon Meier. “Jeff has been involved in many projects on the Entiat District over the last few years, including painting and carpentry work on Tyee Lookout last year,”
The lookout is expected to be available to rent by next summer.
Last November, renovation was completed on the Stelike Lookout in the district and it has been a popular rental space since.
