A weak, dry-weather cold front will continue to push through Northcentral Washington today bringing a tightening of the pressure gradients and windy conditions. The winds and dry, warm conditions could help spread fire in the dry grassy fields. Expect sunny skies in the Wenatchee Valley today with northwest winds 10-20 mph gusting to 25 mph, high temperatures today near 80 degrees.

By Tuesday, the pressure gradients loosen behind the weather front and winds begin to decrease. We will see highs tomorrow in the lower 80’s with west winds only 5-10 mph.

Wednesday and Wednesday night, changes are expected to begin as extended weather forecasts continue to show a deep offshore trough moving toward Vancouver Island by Wednesday afternoon. The main impact of the cold front will be the return of breezy conditions to Northcentral Washington by afternoon and across the remainder of the Inland Northwest during the evening. Wind gusts of 20-30 mph look possible behind the cold front. High temperatures Wednesday will cool down to the mid and upper 70’s.

Weather for Thursday and Friday will be the coolest period of the upcoming week as the aforementioned offshore trough shifts inland. On Thursday, the core of the upper low will be located over Northwest Washington with deepest instability located over the Cascades. This instability will likely be too shallow for thunderstorms but easily sufficient for mainly mountain showers on Thursday. The Wenatchee Valley can expect mostly sunny skies with afternoon high temperatures only in the lower 70’s. The low will continue to migrate eastward on Friday resulting in temperatures to be nearly 20 degrees colder than what we saw this past weekend. That translates to highs in the 60’s to near 70 degrees for most locations.

On Saturday and Sunday, the trough will shift into Western Montana as temperatures begin to warm and a strong upper level ridge of high pressure begins to poke over the western half of Washington. Under sunny skies this weekend, highs on Saturday will top out in the mid 70’s while Sunday we will see afternoon temperatures in the lower 80’s.
