‘The epidemic curves are nearly straight up’: NCW health officials warn, worry about COVID-19 explosion

WENATCHEE — Eight months into the pandemic, COVID-19 is now pervasive in North Central Washington, with more than 100 new cases and six more deaths announced just yesterday. On Thursday night, local health authorities and elected officials held a press conference at the LocalTel Events Center in Pybus Public Market, to outline the threat and the road ahead. Participants were Nathan Weed, interim administrator of the Chelan-Douglas Health District; Dr. Malcolm Butler, chief health officer with Columbia Valley Community Health and the Chelan-Douglas Health District; Dr. Peter Rutherford, CEO of Confluence Health; Dr. Mabel Bodell, Confluence Health nephrologist; and Chelan County Commissioner Kevin Overbay, a member of the Chelan-Douglas Board of Health.
