WENATCHEE — A Malaga man must serve 60 days in jail for sexually abusing an animal in his care.

Porfirio Arroyo Uriostegui, 61, was sentenced Wednesday in Chelan County Superior Court after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree animal cruelty. Investigators say he sexually abused a dog on his property, and found video evidence of him doing so.

Animal control officers seized nine dogs from his property after his arrest last April, and the recording was used as evidence in the case against him. Sixty days is the maximum jail term for the conviction. A second count of first-degree animal cruelty was dropped with Uriostegui’s guilty plea

Besides his jail time, the sentencing order from Judge Travis Brandt permanently bans Uriostegui from owning, residing with, or caring for any animal for the rest of his life.
