There were 38 people arrested for dealing drugs at the Paradiso Festival at the Gorge Amphitheater this year, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Those arrests Friday and Saturday added up to a total of 97 felony charges.
The county said all those arrests were for drug-dealing, not simple possession.
That effort involved several law enforcement agencies coordinating on counter-drug operation Friday and Saturday in and around the festival site near George.
Many kinds of drugs seized
Included in the drugs seized by detectives were Molly, LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine, steroids, ketamine and thousands of dollars in cash. One handgun also was seized.
However, it was nothing new for law enforcement.
The annual two-day electronic music festival has been troublesome for years. In addition to arrests, there have been dozens of people treated for drug overdoses at nearby Quincy Valley Medical Center.
But it has been worse. At its peak in 2015, the hospital treated about 50 people for drug overdoses.
Even worse, there have been three overdose deaths connected to the festival since 2013.
Last year’s counter-drug operation resulted in 30 arrests.
