The Wenatchee School Board has a list of candidates it wants to interview for the district superintendent job.
The board and HYA, its consulting firm, narrowed the list of applicants down last week and will hold a first round of interviews Feb. 4–5, said Diana Haglund, district communications director.s
How many people they’ll interview and their names is not being released and the first interviews will be in closed session.
Later rounds of interviews will be public.
In a letter to the district in late December, HYA warned the district that some candidates were shying away from applying because of concerns about the school board, rumors that the board wanted a Latina superintendent and a requirement that applicants sign a waiver allowing access to their personnel files.
On Jan. 14, two weeks after sending that letter to the district, the application process closed and HYA began sharing with the board the list of people applying.
