WENATCHEE – Renting out a vacation home in Chelan County will likely become more restrictive in the future. Commissioners say the vacation rental market is exploding in areas such as Lake Chelan and Leavenworth thanks to websites such as VRBO and Airbnb.

Commissioner Doug England says the County’s Department of Community Development is in the process of drafting new rules to address, among other issues, neighboring property owner nuisance complaints.

Planners are in the process of developing an inventory of rental properties and are currently conducting a survey of property owners in advance of drafting new regulations.
