WENATCHEE — A Chelan man who had sexual contact with a minor child received a 17-month prison term Wednesday.
Vicente Torres Ayala, 40, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and third-degree child molestation last month, more than three years after the crimes began. The child was 9 years old when she disclosed the abuse in November 2018, saying it began in roughly spring 2016.
Chelan County sheriff’s deputies said Torres denied the allegations when they arrested him in February 2019. Prosecutors initially charged him with first-degree child rape and second-degree rape with a domestic violence component.
Superior Court Judge Lesley Allan ordered Torres to spend 17 months in prison, plus three years on community supervision after his release. She also barred him from contact with the minor victim until 2030.
