Mariachi Huenachi appeared at the Tacoma Dome Friday meeting and performed for country music legend Garth Brooks.
The Wenatchee School District reports in a news release, Garth Brooks is playing five shows in Tacoma this weekend. He heard about Ramon Rivera and Mariachi Huenachi through the Country Music Association (CMA), and said he wanted to meet Ramon and the group!
Here’s how it happened.
Mariachi Director Ramon Rivera was honored as CMA Music Teacher of Excellence in April 2017 in Nashville. “Eric got a call on Tuesday from CMA,” said Ramon. “She said Garth wanted to meet Mariachi! He wanted to have a meet and greet!”
Travel arrangements were quickly made and today at 4pm Mariachi is meeting Garth at the Tacoma Dome, and performing for him. AND, thanks to the Country Music Association, all the Mariachi band members get to be guests at Garth Brooks’ concert.
“CMA really loves our program,” says Ramon, “The timing was perfect and Garth Brooks was only a couple of hours away.”
Ramon Rivera and the Mariachi Huenachi are finding out that when you dream big, dreams really do come true.
