WAHSET State Finals qualifies local equestrians for regional competition


MOSES LAKE – The Washington HS Equestrian Team State Finals were held last weekend at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.  Over 500 HS equestrians from all around Washington state converged at the rodeo grounds in Moses Lake Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The top five in each event will go onto to compete in the Pacific Northwest Invitational Championship in Redmond, Oregon the first weekend in June.

In the Reining event Wenatchee’s Jessie Schweitzer took 2nd place, Hollie Dahl from Cascade placed 3rd, and Wenatchee’s Kady Didtal will be an alternate after taking 7th.
Cheyanne Elliot from Ephrata will go on to regionals in two events after place 2nd in Showmanship and 2nd in the Stock Seat competition.

Jacob Mesangale from Cascade took 2nd in the Break-Away Roping. Amelia Howe from Ephrata placed 4th in the Keyhole event which was very competitive. A new state record was set by Natalie Gluck from W.F. West at 6.995 seconds.

In the individual Flags, Ephrata’s Amelia Howe took 2nd place. The Cascade cattle sorting team (Monica Alloway, Hollie Dahl) will be going on to Oregon as an alternate after placing 8th and they’ll be sending their Free Style Four team (Mackenzie Imes, Monica Alloway, Brooke Bennett, Devan Archer, Schyler Archer, Hollie Dahl) which placed 4th. They’ll be joined by Wenatchee’s Free Style Four team (Sasha Ragan, Camryn Beidler, Ryanna Layton, Camryn Pike, Tia Ragan, Sierra White) which came in right behind them in 5th place.
