RiverCom faces shortfalls in State funding

WENATCHEE-RiverCom’s emergency 911 call center in Wenatchee faces a potential budget challenge as a result of a projected shortfall in State funding next year.

RiverCom’s board of directors this week adopted the 2018 spending plan totaling $4.7 million. A portion of that total is generated by a State telephone excise tax. The revenue from that fund is shared with RiverCom and 19 other Counties that contract with the State.

RiverCom Manager, Jim Fosse says in the past that revenue has amounted to about $300,000 for the local budget.

RiverCom serves as the emergency 911 communications hub serving Chelan and Douglas County Fire, law enforcement and ambulance services
