Port of Chelan County makes decision on new Deputy Director


The Port of Chelan County has made their decision on a new Deputy Director and it’s a familiar name. Current Port of Chelan County Executive Director Pat Jones says after the four hour interview session where candidates were asked questions on topics such as economic development, tourism and Pangborn Airport, one candidate stood out, James Kuntz of Walla Walla.

Kuntz was the was the first candidate to be interviewed. Other candidates included Todd Coleman, Captain Jeff McIrvin, and current Wenatchee Executive Services Director Allison Williams.

Kuntz is a Wenatchee native who previously served as the executive director of the Walla Walla Port District and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts. Kuntz will take over the Port of Chelan County Executive Director position from Pat Jones at the end of this year.
