ELLENSBURG – State Legislator Matt Manweller has been placed on leave from Central Washington University.
The Tacoma News Tribune reported this week that the University has opened a new investigation into complaints of sexual misconduct at Central Washington University where the Ellensburg area lawmaker works as a political science professor.
Manweller steadfastly disputes the claims and in an email responded, “As a result of the media frenzy surrounding two 12-year-old unsubstantiated allegations, CWU received a handful of emails and phone calls from ex-students over the weekend. Based on those calls, CWU will be hiring an outside investigator.”
The allegations of Manweller’s inappropriate behavior were made public last week. Manweller was elected to the state House in 2012 representing the State’s 13th Legislative District.
