WENATCHEE – It was announced back in August that rock climbing will be an official event in the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo. It continues to gain popularity world-wide and especially here in the Wenatchee Valley as a new, world-class indoor rock climbing facility is about to open across from the Town Toyota Center.
The Riverfront Rock Gym is scheduled for their grand opening next Monday, February 27th. Facility manager, Jake Leonard, says they will open on Saturday for new member sign-up and skills testing starting at 8 a.m. and they will have a members-only day Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Cafe & Fitness Center
The indoor facility will be able to accommodate up to 50 rope climbers and another 20 who want to try bouldering. Leonard says their cafe and general fitness center will also be completed in time for their grand opening Monday. The gym will be open seven days a week: M-F 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Sa-Su 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
