(East Wenatchee, WA)…Eastmont erased an early Davis lead to post a 7-1 Big 9 District Play-In win Tuesday at Dan White Field.  The Wildcats advance to face Moses Lake (a 4-1 winner over Sunnyside Tuesday) Friday at 5 p.m. at Larson Playfield.

Davis struck first off Eastmont starter Jared Garland with an RBI single by Kobe Krupp in the top of the third.  The Wildcats answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth when Thomas Murphy scored on an error on Davis’ shortstop on a grounder hit by Jacob Schmitten.  Liam O’Rourke got aboard on an error to lead off the 5th and scored what proved to be the winning run on a double to right by Duncan Favor.  Eastmont added two more in the frame when Devon Schneider scored on a fielding error and Mitchell Tomlinson capped the scoring in the 5th when a come-backer off Dawson Schultz’ bat was fielded by Davis pitcher Isaac Pastrana, who threw home for the force out on Favor but when they tried to double up Schultz at first, the throw hit him in the back, allowing the run to make it 4-1 Eastmont.

The Wildcats struck again in the bottom half of the 6th, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Favor and RBI single by Schneider, who finished 3-for-3 on the day with 2-runs and an RBI.  Favor had two doubles and 2-RBI with a run.  On the mound, Garland earned the victory, pitching 5-innings of one-run, 5-hit ball with one walk and two strikeouts.  Micah Satterfield finished off the Pirates in the 7th with a one-two-three frame, including a strikeout.

The win improved Eastmont’s season record to 10-and-11 overall.  Wildcat Coach Brandon Schmitten said he’s proud of his team, but it’s all one at a time from here on out.  “I told the kids it doesn’t matter what you do early in the year, just keep on improving.  And, they’ve done it, so we’re looking forward to whoever we have to play next,” said Schmitten.  Next up:  Moses Lake Friday at 5 p.m.
