Douglas County Commissioners Object to Sen. Hawkins Carbon Tax Stance

WATERVILLE, WA.- Douglas County Commissioners are adamantly opposed to a proposed carbon tax in Washington State. The Commissioners are also highly critical of State Senator, Brad Hawkins, who abstained when the bill came up for a vote in his Senate Committee earlier this week. Commissioners rifled off a scathing letter to Hawkins this week explaining their disappointment . . .

Last week Senator Hawkins hosted Governor Jay Inslee on a so-called listening tour of the Wenatchee area. During the tour the Governor met with Chelan County PUD Commissioners where the issue of the carbon tax came up. The Governor also reported afterwards that his carbon tax proposal is supported by the State’s apple industry as a means of battling climate change and its reported impacts on fruit.
