PUD Moves Forward With Smart Metering

Chelan County PUD Commissioners move forward with two-way metering.

WENATCHEE, WA- Chelan County PUD Commissioners are moving forward with advanced, two-way metering as a preferred alternative for future customer meters and as part of a new customer technology program.  They heard from several customers at Monday’s meeting about health and safety concerns. Commissioner Ann Congdon echoed those concerns as she cast the lone dissenting vote.

PUD General Manager Steve Wright acknowledges there are concerns that are being addressed.

Wright says the board’s actions will help in the program’s planning process. Plans are to ask commissioners for a decision to proceed with a request for proposals for advanced meters in about a year.
